Can I buy tickets on arrival? 

No, all tickets will need to be booked in advance through our website.


Do I need to print my tickets? 

You can either print your tickets or show them on your phone or mobile device.


When is my tour?

Your tour is the time stated on your ticket after the date of tour. You are welcome to arrive prior to your tour time to enjoy the gardens. The Gardens open from 10:30am. The time slot booked for your Castle tour is set and you must enter the Castle at this precise time.


How long is the Victorian Christmas Castle tour?

The tour is 45mins.


Is there an onsite car park?

Yes, this a large onsite car park which is a five minute walk from the Castle.  There is a small number of accessible car parking spaces also available. Please ask for directions to this car park on arrival. Parking is included in your ticket prices.


Can I view the grounds and not take a tour?

Grounds tickets will be available on the gate. Unfortunately, due to limited parking, we cannot guarantee there will be grounds tickets available.


Can I make a reservation for Walker’s House Restaurant?

Yes, it is essential that you pre-book if you wish to have a festive lunch or afternoon tea.  To enjoy a Festive Lunch, please complete the booking enquiry form on our Victorian Christmas Event page. Once completed, Kavanagh’s at Walker’s House will be contact to confirm your table booking. Festive Afternoon Tea tickets are available to purchase on our website.


What COVID-19 safety measures are in place? 

We would like to assure you that visitors and staff safety of the upmost importance to us and we are taking every step to ensure a covid-safe environment.

We have hand sanitiser in numerous locations across the site.  All visitors that enter any inside space will be required to wear a face covering unless they have a medical exemption. All Guides and Castle staff will also wear face coverings where appropriate.

Where queuing is required, clearly marked queuing spaces will be marked out.


I have an infant, do they need a ticket?

Yes, all visitors require a ticket for this event as all babies and children count into our maximum capacity.


Can I receive a refund for my tickets?

All tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.


Are pushchairs allowed in the Castle? 

No pushchairs are not allowed on the tour of the Castle.


Can I buy something to eat at the Castle? 

Yes, Walkers House tea room is open from 11am – 3pm, providing a selection of light lunches, cakes and hot & cold drinks to purchase on the day. A full menu will be available soon.


I have booked afternoon Tea, does this include entry to the Castle?

No. Afternoon Tea tickets do not include Castle entry, however your tickets can be upgraded to include this. you will need to contact the Estate Office by email (, with your order number, where you will be advised on additional costs.


Are dogs allowed?

Well behaved dogs are welcome within the grounds only. They must be kept on a lead at all times.


What concessions apply for this event?

Our Victorian Christmas is outside our Open Season, Historic Houses, Gardeners World 2 for 1, English Heritage 2 for 1 and Blue Peter Badge discount does not apply.


I need to purchase a carer ticket, how do I do this?

All carer tickets must be processed through the Estate Office. Please purchase all paid tickets within your group, then email your order confirmation to, and we will add a free carer ticket to your order.


Is there accessible parking onsite?

Accessible parking is located on the grass hill outside the Castle Towers. Those that require accessible parking are welcome to drop visitors outside the Castle Towers on the road and park the vehicle on the hill afterwards.


Is there wheelchair access onsite?

Rockingham Castle is situated on a hill and is steep in places. Access ramps have been installed around the gardens, into Walker’s house tea room and the Gift Shop. There are steps into the Castle to start the tour, if alternative access is needed, please ask a member of staff for assistance.
