Can I buy tickets on arrival?
No, all tickets must be purchased online before the visit.
Do I need to print my tickets?
You can either print your tickets or show them on your phone or device.
Can I arrive at a different time than what is on my ticket?
If you have booked a Halloween Tour, your tour time will be printed on your ticket. You can however arrive and enjoy the gardens throughout the day.
You will not be able to enter the castle any earlier than your allocated tour time.
We regret that we cannot book another tour if you arrive late.
I’m a Historic Houses member, how do I organise tickets?
Unfortunately we do not accept Historic Houses memberships for this event.
Is there an onsite car park?
Yes, this a large onsite car park which is a five minute walk from the Castle. There is a small number of accessible car parking spaces also available. Please ask for directions to this car park on arrival.
Do I have to pay for parking?
No, car parking is included in your admission ticket.
Is the Castle Open?
Yes, the Castle is open for pre-booked tours. Pre-booking is essential.
Is the Castle open for me to explore at my leisure?
No, the castle is only open for pre-booked guided tours. Unless you booked a guided tour you will not be able to visit the Castle itself.
I have booked a tour of the Castle, does this include entry to the Gardens?
Yes, if you have booked a Castle tour this includes entry to the Gardens throughout the day. The gardens are open from 10.30am – 4pm.
Will there be flashing lights on the tour?
Yes, we do use some flashing lights on the tour.

What COVID-19 safety measures are in place?
We would like to assure you that visitors and staff safety of the upmost importance to us and we are taking every step to ensure a covid-safe environment.
We have hand sanitiser in numerous locations across the site. All visitors are encouraged to adhere to the current social distancing guidelines, maintaining the 2 metre distance from households outside of their own. All visitors that enter any inside space will be required to wear a face covering unless they have a medical exemption. All Guides and Castle staff will also wear face coverings where appropriate.
Where queuing is required, clearly marked queuing spaces will be marked out.

Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are welcome in the gardens on a lead. A water bowl is available in the Courtyard.
I have an infant, do they need a ticket?
Yes, all visitors require a ticket for this event as all babies and children count into our maximum capacity.
Are pushchairs allowed in the Castle?
No pushchairs are not allowed on the tour of the Castle.
Can I buy something to eat at the Castle?
Yes, Walkers House tea room is open from 11am – 3pm. A full menu will be uploaded shortly.
Can I bring a picnic?
Yes you are more than welcome to bring your own picnic to have in the gardens. We ask that all rubbish is disposed of in the bins provided or taken home with you.
