The tearooms are situated in Walker’s House, an annex of the Castle found within the Courtyard, and offer truly historic surroundings in which to enjoy refreshments.
We are open from noon until 5pm (last orders 4.30pm) on Open Days and provide a friendly & informal waitress service operation with a comprehensive menu ranging from a cup of coffee to a full lunch.
There is always an interesting range of toasted sandwiches, soups, hot snacks and light lunches as well as a daily specials board with homemade seasonal favourites, and our menu also incorporates a good selection of vegetarian options. Children are always welcome and we offer a healthy meal box to keep them happy. Popular hot & cold traditional puddings and desserts are also available.
Walker’s House holds a licence so why not enjoy a glass of wine or a traditional English beer or cider with your lunch.
For afternoon tea we have a range of cakes, scones, toasted fruitbreads and Thaymar’s delicious dairy ice creams, as well as our almost famous Rockingham Cream Tea.
Special Diets: Alternatives are available for those with special dietary requirements and we are always happy to try to accommodate specific dietary requests.
Our menu changes as the season progresses to incorporate the freshest possible ingredients and we always endeavour to support smaller local suppliers in the first instance. We will only buy from suppliers that guarantee the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, traceability, animal welfare & environmental protection. Red Tractor Assured, RSPCA Freedom Foods and Marine Stewardship Council are the accreditations we look for from our larger suppliers.
We hope this gives you a flavour of what Walkers House has to offer, and that you take the time to drop in during your visit to Rockingham Castle.
