Christmas Eve 1849

27th November to 7th December

It is Christmas Eve, 1849. The staff are preparing the Castle for the family’s Christmas celebrations. Under the butler’s direction the Great Hall table is laid, the silver is polished, the candles and fires are lit, the decorations are in place and the kitchen is a hive of activity.

Come and enjoy the tales of the staff and see the Castle decorated in grand Victorian style.

There are a limited number of places each day for groups to visit the Castle for this popular event. Set in the courtyard decorated with illuminated trees is the award winning Castle Gift Shop offering a wide selection of gifts for family and friends.

Walker’s House Restaurant, with table service, offers a selection of delicious festive dishes created from locally sourced produce. Enjoy a festive cream tea or Victorian high tea.
