16TH & 17TH APRIL 2017

On Easter Sunday and Monday, the ever-popular children’s Easter egg hunt returns. Around the magnificent formal gardens, featuring the famous Elephant Hedge and the Rose Garden where Charles Dickens once pondered his latest literary masterpiece, the Easter bunny has been hard at work. A myriad of brightly coloured stars have been hidden amongst foliage, under bushes, nestled in cracks and behind trees. These stars can be traded in for mini chocolate eggs or find the bonus stars to win a full size Easter egg.  If your little treasure hunters are still full of beans they can help Wentworth find his lost gold to earn your badge as Chief Griffin Assistant!

The Castle will also be open to observe the splendid collection of paintings and armour. Built by William the Conqueror 900 years ago, the castle has been the home of the Watson family since 1530. Standing in 12 acres of glorious gardens and boasting a licensed restaurant and tearoom and a Gift Shop, this is a day out for all the family to enjoy. The gardens are poised above the Welland Valley with views over five counties. The ramparts enclose both a formal and informal garden set amongst the medieval fortifications. Rockingham of today combines the magic of a living castle, the splendour of a glorious setting and all the facilities of a fantastic visitor attraction.

The gates open at 12 noon each day with the Castle opening at 1pm. Last entry 4.30pm.  Dairy free eggs can be provided on request.
